Fashion Tips

A sampling of fashion advice by Ms. Jones for men and women of all ages.

Black & Blue

Think navy eveningwear with black patent accessories for special occasions; royal and cobalt blue blouses, jackets, sweaters and dresses mixed with black separates for day.

Menswear Details

High-heeled oxford pumps with laces and tassels along with tweed pants, vests and blazers lead the way for celebrating this trend.

Let it Shine

Patent leather shoes, boots, belts, totes and trench coats are the way to meet the shine quotient for day; sequins and all types of real and faux “bling” get the job done at night!

Booties

They work as well with cigarette pants as they do with wide-legged trousers, mini dresses and pencil slim skirts. Remember to pick a heel height that works for you!

The Oversized Clutch

Handheld, chic and ladylike. This is one trend that repeats itself over and over again, so don’t be afraid to invest in one that you really love.

Get Quilted

Ski vests aren’t the only things that are quilted this season. Shoes, totes and long coats also have quilt appeal!

Varied Sleeve Lengths

To welcome the cool weather in style, acquire an eye for layering and accessorizing all sleeve lengths. Think body hugging tee with a casual short-sleeve belted cardigan, bangle bracelets and cuffs to add interest to three-quarter sleeves suit jackets and dresses.

Corset Belts

Cinched waists are in, and a wide corset belt with multiple closures will keep you all-together stylish!

The Bow Tie Blouse

An easy way to update tailored separates is with this ultra-feminine top. Those with billowy sleeves can be dressed up and down for work and play and can stand on their own without a jacket or sweater.

The Voluminous Coat

Belt it when you want a more tailored look. Leave it open and loose when you want to showcase an outfit underneath. No matter how you wear it, be sure to pick up a few lady-like leather gloves in a variety of colors to add signature style.

Decorating Tips

Interior Decoration is the art of organizing a room in order to make it pleasing to the eye and easy to use with the existing frame of the room. The goal of successful interior design is to give the home owner a look for the room that reflects their personality using things like paintings, paint, wall paper, light fixtures, floor plans, curtains and carpets.

Most decorated rooms are based on themes. Some people like Louis XV, some like the Victorian era, and then there are those that like art deco. Each style depends on what the home owner likes. When you hire an interior decorator, some may charge per room, so if you are looking to have multiple rooms decorated some may give you a break on the price, so shop around before you decide on one person. Every interior decorator has different ideas, and you may find you like one designer better than the other.

Once you decide to go with an interior designer, make sure that you have some idea of what you want. Some designers come in with their own ideas and they create a room based on their vision and not yours. Then you end up hating the style, and either you end up with a look you like or you end up in court. Always have a design style in mind; look on the Internet, see what different styles you like, and then as you are interviewing decorators, show them what you want and make sure they have the means to get you what you want.

There are so many different ways to decorate your home. If you don't want the whole kit and caboodle, then you can have someone come in a design a simple room with paint and carpeting and maybe some art for the room. You can find out exactly what services are offered and then go from there. Make sure the company you are dealing with is reputable. Ask to see some designs that have been done for other people.

Once you have commissioned an interior decorator, make sure you have a contract and that the contract lists everything that you want so that once the job is completed, there is no question as to what was supposed to be done. Unfortunately, there are many small claims cases based on that very issue. Get everything in writing and always get a receipt. Never give cash without getting a detailed receipt for what the cash was given for.
